VISION

Our vision is a world in which all materials are fully recognized and understood.

Optocycle uses optical sensor technology and machine learning to precisely identify materials and make material flows transparent – enabling better decision-making when handling primary and secondary raw materials.

ISSUES

Huge masses.
No data.

38% of all waste generated in the EU is construction and demolition waste. Yet, paradoxically, we manage this giant in the dark. At the weighbridge, a glance of just a few seconds often decides the quality of loads weighing several tonnes. An analogue blind flight with expensive consequences:

01
Lack of transparency & subjectivity

The composition of mineral construction waste is typically estimated manually by visual inspection. This process is subjective and prone to error. A reliable database is completely lacking.

02
Economic Inefficiency

In practice, the lack of a database leads to structural disadvantages: from billing disputes and inefficient transport routes to flat-rate risk premiums and unplanned machine downtime.

03
Loss of Resources & Landfill Scarcity

Valuable materials end up in downcycling or landfills due to inadequate identification, instead of being reused for high-quality purposes. At the same time, landfill capacities are becoming increasingly scarce.

04
Environmental Impact

The potential of the circular economy often remains untapped. This leads to the unnecessary extraction of primary raw materials and inefficient logistics chains, which place a massive burden on the environmental balance sheet.

SOLUTION

Future
Circular Economy

The answer to resource scarcity lies right in front of us: our entire built environment is the raw material depot of the future (urban mining). A functioning circular economy does not view buildings at the end of their life cycle as waste, but as a material bank.

The goal is the transition to high-quality recycling. It must be possible to create new building materials from mineral construction waste. To ensure this succeeds, we enable three decisive steps:

Creating transparency

Creating transparency

Digitally record and make the material flow measurable.

Separate strictly by type

Separate strictly by type

Detect impurities at an early stage and manage materials in a targeted manner.

Building trust

Building trust

Making secondary building materials a genuine alternative to primary raw materials through reliable quality data.

Reference demolition industry (3,000 t).

With Optocycle, we identify recyclable materials directly on site. In this scenario, we save around 12 tonnes of CO2 thanks to shortened transport routes (30 km instead of 90 km). Mathematically, this takes five cars off the road for a whole year. At the same time, we save 14,400 km of lorry travel: the distance from Tübingen to New Delhi and back!

OPERATING PRINCIPLES

How we work

Be bold!

We have the courage to take risks, challenge the status quo, and think beyond limits. We are fearless, remain persistent, and think big. That is exactly what drives us to forge new paths and turn ambitious ideas into reality.

Make it yours!

We take responsibility for our actions, our results and our impact. With creativity and a genuine hands-on mentality, we actively work on solutions, set ourselves binding goals and make things happen instead of just talking. And if something does go wrong, we learn from our mistakes together.

Mach es goldrichtig!

With precision, attention to detail and structured processes, we strive for excellence in everything we do. Efficiency and continuous improvement keep us on our toes – because our focus is on our customers, for whom we want to create real value.

Win as One!

We win as a team – based on trust, respect and openness. Transparency, honesty and direct feedback are the cornerstones of our collaboration. At Optocycle, everyone can be their true self and bring their own personality to the table.
